Andrew's Bio

Andrew G. Poulos is an Enrolled Agent admitted by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. Andrew earned his Bachelor?s degree in Accounting and Real Estate in 1994 from Georgia State University.  In February 1995 he founded his firm People?s Payroll Systems (now known as Poulos Accounting & Consulting, Inc.).

While attending Georgia State University, Andrew was employed in the accounting department at Norfolk Southern Railroad, and prior to that he worked in the commercial lending department for Citizens & Southern Bank (now know as Bank of America). He also gained valuable accounting experience while employed as an intern in the accounting department for Georgia Special Olympics.

While employed by Georgia Special Olympics, Andrew had the pleasure of assisting with the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. He had the opportunity to meet and work with children that were mentally and physically disabled. Watching handicapped children compete in sporting events was a very emotionally uplifting experience. Participating in these Olympic Games taught Andrew that with perseverance in life you can overcome any obstacles that life brings your way.  While participating in the Olympic Games, Andrew also had the great fortune of meeting Glen ?Doc? Rivers the former Atlanta Hawks point guard, and Coach of the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics. Andrew proudly has a picture of him with Doc Rivers hanging on the wall in his office. The experiences he gained from working at Georgia Special Olympics taught him that in life everyone is important, and you treat others as you want to be treated. Applying this philosophy to his business and his clients has brought great success to Andrew during the thirteen years that he has been in business.

Andrew?s knowledge of the mortgage and real estate industry was obtained while employed for a period of time with Continental Mortgage & Investment Corp. This experience has given him the ability to provide his clients with additional services by expanding into the mortgage industry in 2005.  He earned his mortgage brokers license in Georgia in 2005, and in 2007 he passed the Florida State Exam and met all the requirements to become a licensed mortgage broker in Florida.

Andrew earned his Accredited Business Accountant, and Accredited Tax Preparer designations (ABA, ATP) through the Accreditation Council for Accountancy & Taxation.  In 2009 he was appointed to the Subject Matter Expert Panel by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy & Taxation.  Andrew is one of the committee members who is assisting with the National ATP exam.  In 2010 he was honored with an appointment to the Accredited Tax Advisor examination panel by the National Society of Accountants.  Andrew also sits on the Tucker High School Technology Advisory Board.

In 2010 Andrew was honored with the opportunity to join the Auburn University staff as an instructor for the Continuing Professional Education Department.  He considers this one of his greatest accomplishments of his career.  In late 2010 he had the distinct honor of joining the Legacy Series, an organization of national speakers in the accounting and tax industry.

He is the producer and host of The Savvy Money Show a weekly financial radio show.

He is an active member of the National Society of Accountants (NSA), National Association of  Tax Professionals (NATP), and National Society of Tax Professionals (NSTP).

In 2006 Andrew passed an examination provided by Intuit Corporation to become a Certified QuickBooks® ProAdvisor.  Today he has an educational training center, which he uses to teach QuickBooks® classes to accounting professionals, small business owners, and citizens in the Metro Atlanta area.  The classes he teaches in Atlanta and Auburn are taught in a live hands-on classroom environment with Intuit approved curriculum.

In 1999-2000 his hard work and commendable community service contributions helped Andrew become elected as a member of Lexington Who?s Who of Executives and Professionals.

In 2000 Andrew was honored when the Atlanta Business Chronicle published an article about his growing firm.

Throughout the years Andrew has been invited to be a guest speaker at various schools and business organizations on the topic of accounting & taxation.  He has also sponsored free home buyer seminars to the Metro Atlanta Community in an effort to educate citizens in the community on the home buying process.

As an active member of the community, Poulos Accounting & Consulting, Inc. along with its Subsidiary Manhattan Lending Corporation, are proud sponsors each year of various community events.  In past years Andrew and his businesses have sponsored the Alabama Crimson Tide, a little league at Tucker?s Fitzgerald Football Field.  This year the firm is sponsoring the Tucker Lions 90lb and 105lb teams, at Fitzgerald Football Field.  In 2007 the firm sponsored the ?Matsi Group? a bicycle team that raced to raise money for charity.  Other community events that the firm has made financial contributions to have been the IOCC Organization to help victims of natural disasters, and the Loaves & Fish Food Program to help make Christmas a special day for the underprivileged children.

Other things that Andrew enjoys doing when he isn?t working include going to a baseball, football, or basketball game.  When he is able to get out of the office for a weekend getaway, he enjoys relaxing at the beach, or flying to Vegas for a weekend of fun.  Andrew also enjoys spending time hunting for residential investment properties when he can find some spare time. He loves investing and has used his knowledge and skills to successfully acquire several profitable investment properties this past year during these tough economic times. Andrew is the type of accountant who practices what he preaches to his family, friends, and clients. He gets great pleasure from helping people and seeing them succeed.  This is one of the main reasons that he has been in the financial industry for the past thirteen years.

Andrew?s experience, leadership abilities, communication skills, and work ethic translate to excellent service and success to his clients. When you think about your personal or business accounting needs, think about Andrew and how he can help you with your situation.
